Antigua's charm lies in its simple yet timeless beauty. Boasting pristine beaches, crystal-clear waters, and gentle trade winds that effortlessly beckon relaxation. The sunsets paint the sky with warm hues, making it a place where life's pace naturally slows, allowing each moment to be cherished...
Nestled at the tip of Reed's Point on the southwest coast of the island, this exceptional villa serves as the ideal launchpad for exploring Antigua's natural wonders. From its white sandy beaches to the stunning turquoise sea, the home provides an idyllic backdrop.
Renowned for their visually captivating, personalised interiors, London-based interior design studio Ward & Co Interiors, led by the mother-daughter duo Sarah Ward and Rosie Ward, infuse every space with its own unique essence. They blend a deep respect for culture with a contemporary perspective, breathing new life into a diverse range of historical and modern homes.
Their expertise played a pivotal role in shaping the vision for this extraordinary home: "A contemporary, comfortable sanctuary with a distinctly Caribbean flair, adorned with vibrant, confident tones that harmonise flawlessly with the region, all while paying homage to the Caribbean," noted Sarah Ward of Ward & Co Interiors.
The villa's meticulous design process spanned over three years, resulting in an interior that exudes elegance and sophistication, perfectly complementing the natural beauty of its surroundings. This seaside retreat boasts six king-sized bedrooms, each with its ensuite bathroom. It features thoughtfully designed indoor and outdoor spaces for both dining and relaxation, a dreamlike chef's kitchen, a home cinema, and a refined home office. The decor is subtly inviting, never competing with the breathtaking views but instead creating an ambiance of warmth and tranquillity.
Working in close collaboration with local architects and landscape designers, Ward & Co oversaw both the construction and interior design of the villa, meticulously attending to every detail, including the selection of materials. Their inspiration sprang from the colours of the sea and sand, which they artfully employed as their neutral palette, juxtaposed with patterns and textures. The interior architecture beautifully mirrors the local sand and quarried natural stone, establishing a harmonious connection with the environment.
Upon entering the villa on the first floor, you are greeted by a reception room, a spacious kitchen, and outdoor seating, with awe-inspiring views. The kitchen, designed in a modern open-plan style, exudes luxury, thanks to the selection of high-quality fittings. The upholstered kitchen stools, featuring Etamine's 'Sandaga' fabric from Zimmer + Rohde, showcase lavishly decorated garments, with a single, central feminine form serving as an alluring focal point.
Earthy tones gracefully cascade from the rest of the home into the master bedroom, harmoniously blending with warm and sea-inspired blue tones. The master much like the rest of the home, was meticulously planned as a serene retreat, with material choices expertly merging a comforting touch with high performance. A stone-coloured voile from Turnell & Gignon, imbued with a subtle sparkle reminiscent of the sea's "silver dust effect" in the afternoons, was the selected starter fabric. Vaulted ceilings, expansive windowed walls, and a capacious sea-facing terrace combine to create a serene and characterful space.
The villa's master ensuite bathroom offers arguably the most breathtaking bathroom views in the Caribbean, with its expansive tub providing an endless opportunity for soaking in the panoramic scenery. Adorned with high-quality furnishings that exude luxury throughout the space, the bathroom tiles, sourced from Fired Earth, draw inspiration from the local sands, exhibiting a soothing warm neutral palette that perfectly complements the tropical sanctuary. Large, light-infusing windows offer mesmerising vistas of the sea, culminating in a truly rejuvenating escape.
This idyllic space serves as the perfect backdrop for Samuel Heath's hand-crafted brassware from the Style Moderne collection, resplendent in a Polished Nickel finish. A Style Moderne wall-mounted basin fillers and three separate control shower fixtures were meticulously chosen to complement the material choices. A strategically positioned wall-mounted bath filler from the collection adds a touch of classic refinement, transforming the bathing experience into a spa-like indulgence. The choice of Polished Nickel finish was deliberate, creating a lustrous allure that gracefully reflects the natural sunlight, further enhancing the overall ambience of this retreat.
